REST FIRST?

RUTH 3:18

Then she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.”

I agree—be still, rest. Something happened before Ruth was given the instruction to rest. Ruth became a daughter. She claimed Naomi as her mother and Naomi’s God as her God. She followed Naomi home as a child would do. She took instructions from Naomi as a daughter would her mother. Naomi gleaned in the field as a diligent person with character, compassion, and responsibility. These qualities caught Boaz’s attention, and he gave her favor in the field. THEN, after Ruth obeyed Naomi and lay at Boaz feet—surrendering her cares to him—Naomi instructed Ruth to rest. Ruth had gotten as close as she could. Now, it was Boaz’s turn to finish the work—draw her all the way into the family!

When Ruth worked for Boaz, she received more than the other workers. When Boaz worked for Ruth, she received the overflow—a blessing she could not count or measure!

I want the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me into all truth. Then, I want Him to pour me out a blessing that I do not have room enough to receive. I know that the truth He leads me into will draw me closer to Him through the knowledge of who He is, and the blessing will be both natural and spiritual, as with Ruth.

Thank You. I will rest as Your daughter knowing that You will not rest until You conclude the matter.
